This marks our landscape gardening team’s second visit to this job site since 2020. Warrinton is where we’ve completed many projects over the years and also source our paving from. this property has become a familiar spot for us.
Back in 2020, we were brought in to enhance the existing outdoor space, which featured a patio installed the previous year by another contractor. Our task was to extend the design by installing an artificial lawn and building a small raised patio in the rear left corner of the garden. The original patio was finished with Indian stone paving, so we made sure to match that material on the new rear section for a seamless, cohesive look.
REASON FOR VISIT
This time around, the visit was a short one focused on essential maintenance work for the patio. The main tasks included a thorough heavy-duty chemical clean and wash, followed by repointing all patio areas to refresh and reinforce the joints.
During the inspection, we noted around a 20% reduction in joint size on the patio work we originally completed in 2020—most likely due to natural weathering over time. This level of wear is expected and highlights the importance of regular upkeep.
However, the section of the patio completed in 2019 presented more significant issues. There was almost complete joint loss in several areas, along with loose paving stones. This was primarily due to a lack of proper priming during the initial installation. Fortunately, the main patio structure itself remained intact, and the necessary repointing work only took about half a day to complete.
Regular maintenance not only helps extend the life of your patio but also ensures it stays safe and visually appealing. This visit clearly showed how poor-quality workmanship—like what we saw from the 2019 installation—can lead to premature joint failure and extra repair costs down the line
